AdvisoryAI and Aveni joint winners at the PIMFA WealthTech, Morningstar and Finextra AI Tech Sprint

After jointly winning the 2026 AI Tech Sprint, AdvisoryAI and Aveni will present their solutions at the Morningstar Investment Conference UK on 7th May 2026.

On 22 April 2026, PIMFA WealthTech, Morningstar, and Finextra hosted an AI Tech Sprint, with nine fintech firms demonstrating technology solutions that leverage AI to create measurable business impact and improve problem solving.

The key theme of the Tech Sprint was AI in wealth and advice: “From experimentation to ROI: how can firms turn their application of AI into measurable business impact?”

Fintechs were asked to demonstrate and present two key areas. First, the successful embedding of AI, from elevated client experiences and adviser empowerment to improved operational efficiency and optimised risk management. Second, firms were asked to present how they are pushing the boundaries with AI — whether a project was already launched or still in proof-of-concept.

AdvisoryAI impressed the judges by presenting their four key AI tools for financial advisory firms:

  1. Evie, an AI adviser assistant, who helps financial advisers automate and streamline the documentation process.
  2. Emma, an AI, purpose-built paraplanning software designed to deliver suitable recommendations and financial advice.
  3. Colin, an AI compliance checker.
  4. And finally, Atlas, which launched earlier this year.

Atlas brings all the previous tools, plus an organisations’ CRM and other data, into one single conversational interface – providing advisers and paraplanners instant access to client information that previously required searching across multiple systems.

Alan Gurung, founder and CEO at AdvisoryAI explained that rather than focusing on one specific AI tool, they have tried to create the right tools for each business function. “We have gone more horizontal. For advisors, there’s Evie. For paraplanners, there’s Emma. For compliance, there’s Colin. And then for operations for an entire business, there’s Atlas.”

Aveni were joint winners by presenting their tool Aveni Detect, which provides 100% Q&A file review and outcome testing for financial services firms. The key industry challenges addressed by recent upgrades was the ability to reach the “gold standard of 100% pre-sale checks,” explained Benjamin Cave, CPO. “Whilst the analysis of individual conversations is a quite compelling use case for a lot of these firms, the much bigger value lies in the ability to fully automate file reviews and outcome tests across the advice that is given.”

The judges viewpoint was Aveni Detect held an advantage over other solutions by working across multiple documents and conversations, creating regulator-ready evidence, as well as the ability to recognise, record, and respond to vulnerable customers, and create triage lists.

Both AdvisoryAI and Aveni will now present their technology to an audience of industry peers and decision makers at the Morningstar Investment Conference UK on 7th May 2026.
